For each conference, we work with our client to develop his or her specific objectives, tailoring the conference to meet their desires. We draw from a list of possible objectives to help the client more accurately develop his or her goals. Examples include:
• The nature of strategic management and how to set and achieve conditions for success at the highest levels
• The role of core values in the leadership of an organization.
• The influence of the environment, including political and economic environments, on the actions of leaders.
• The importance of communication and understanding between superiors, colleagues, and subordinates.
• The impact of emerging technology on the leadership process.
We propose historical examples that the participants can place into perspective with their own situations and experiences. Our objective is to help participants reflect upon their development as leaders. Through these seminars, they will be able to develop their capacities to envision effective action and to give clear and precise instructions in a timely fashion.
What separates battlefield seminars from any other leadership training is that the study of failures and successes is made more immediate by the physical presence of the terrain.

> MANAGEMENT
Most of the problems we experience as leaders are found in battles: seeing the future, shaping a vision, harmonizing operations, articulating and communicating intent clearly, taking risk, relating interpersonally, adapting to changing circumstances, dealing with crisis, etc. We experience the power of men like Foch, Pershing, Churchill, De Gaulle, Montgomery, and Eisenhower as they dealt with these issues, but we also explore the actions of sergeants and junior officers who seized responsibility and initiative to make a difference.
> TECHNOLOGY
The World Wars helped to accelerate the transformation from the Industrial Age into the Technological Age. We can explore in an historical context many of the same technological problems with which we wrestle today, including the difficulty of making change and the power of successful transformation.
> VALUES
These fields are what President Abraham Lincoln called “hallowed ground”. On them, men fought for values and ideals they held more dearly than they did their own lives. Standing in the places where these leaders stood lends itself to thinking about their decisions in a way that is fundamentally different from sitting in a classroom or listening to a lecture. Over the years, we have organized staff rides for a remarkable range of leaders from around the world and from a diverse array of disciplines, and they invariably walk away with a renewed sense of purpose, dedication and vitality. |
